
Garbage has the potential to become the country's biggest economic resource: CEEW report
The Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) has revealed in its latest study that the growing garbage and cesspools in India have the potential to become the country's largest economic resource. The report clarifies that if organic waste generated from urban areas is properly managed, there is a market opportunity of 55 billion (about 5 lakh crores) by 2047. Currently, 1.71 lakh tonnes of solid waste is generated daily, of which half is organic waste.
