The government is set to implement new rules to promote the use of piped natural gas (PNG) across the country. Under the rules, which will come into effect from June 1, households already connected to PNG may have to cancel their LPG connections. The aim is to curb the practice of having two gas connections at the same address. Changes such as restrictions on LPG cylinder refill bookings in areas where PNG facilities are available and an extension of the refill lock-in period are also under consideration.
