Financial experts predict that the central government may make favorable announcements for the middle class, farmers and the elderly in the 2026 budget. If the standard deduction is increased to Rs 1 lakh in the new income tax regime, annual income up to Rs 13 lakh may not be taxable. The government is planning to abandon the old tax regime and make the new regime more attractive. A proposal to increase the annual assistance to farmers from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is also under consideration.
