Sex workers should not be treated as criminals: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has made it clear that people who voluntarily engage in sex work should not be treated as criminals and that it is illegal for the police to attack and file cases against them. A bench headed by Justice Nageswara Rao delivered this verdict. The court reminded that according to the Constitution, every citizen has the right to live with dignity, which also applies to sex workers. It ordered that human trafficking gangs be clamped down on and victims be rehabilitated.
